Lil Nas X responds to Dave Chapelle’s jokes

Atlanta emcee Lil Nas X recently released a snippet of an upcoming self-directed music video for fans and unveiled that he will be releasing new, exciting music this year.

However, the ‘Old Town Road’ lyricist was recently the butt of one of Dave Chapelle’s jokes. Although Chapelle is known for being an edgy comedian. Since his return a few years ago, he has made some controversial statements about the LGBTQ community.

During his Netflix comedy special, The Dreamer, the Maryland comic referenced Lil Nas X’s 2021 track ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’, and made Lil Nas X a laughing stock.

The joke saw Chapelle on stage perform a joke where he asks an imaginary child what they want to be when they’re older, and hesitantly, the child responds, “Lil Nas X.”

Performing the gag, Chapelle stated, “That n*gga stood up in front of the whole class. I wanna be the gayest n*gga that ever lived. I want to do a music video, slide down a stripper pole all the way into the depths of hell and suck the devil’s dick at 10’o-clock on BET while all the kids are awake and they can see me.” He concluded by adding, “Shockingly, that was the only dream that worked out.”

Following the reference to the music video for his 2021 single ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’, Lil Nas X took to Twitter/X, writing, “Y’all gotta let call me by your name go, me and the devil broke up 3 years ago. Y’all acting like children of divorce.”

Elsewhere in the special, Chapelle spoke about when he first met Lil Nas X at a party, highlighting the bizarre outfit he was wearing, explaining, “I met this n*gga at a party. I had no idea who he was. But the minute he walked into that party, I knew I was in his dream. Everyone at that party was a dreamer, everyone was famous, but when that n*gga walked in, he was dressed like CP3O. He was Shining. And everyone was like ‘Oh my god, there he is, that’s Lil Nas X’.”
