Lil Jon announces new memoir ‘I Only Shout So You Can Hear Me’

Lil Jon has announced a new memoir titled I Only Shout So You Can Hear Me.

The 55-year-old crunk pioneer will be releasing his first book on October 20th via Black Privilege Publishing.

Written alongside Paul Cantor, the 288-page memoir will detail his rise to fame, ranging from his mother’s roots in Alabama to his own career, touching on his work as a DJ in Atlanta to his famed group, Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz.

He also discusses his collaborations with the likes of Ice Cube, Usher, Pitbull, and Ciara, while speaking on some of his biggest hits.

Speaking to People, Jon said, “I’ve worked on a lot of different projects over the years, but this one right here made me dig deep and turn inward.”

He continued, “Y’all have heard my voice for over three decades, but here’s a chance to read what I really have to say about it all, and catch a glimpse into the innermost circles of both my professional and personal worlds.”

Jon, whose 27-year-old son passed away in February, opened up about why he decided to release the book.

“I’ve been blessed to amass enormous wins, but with that I’ve also had to endure immense hardships and painful losses privately and publicly… and I’m finally ready to share that with you all,” he said. “This ride ain’t been an easy one, but whoever said chasin’ your dreams was easy?”

Taking to Instagram, the rapper revealed that the book took three years to write and hoped that his life story resonates with readers.

Jon is best known for his massive singles such as ‘Get Low’, ‘Turn Down for What’, ‘Yeah!’, and ‘Snap Yo Fingers’.
