Lil B condemns rap beef and says "hip-hop is about love"

California rapper Lil B has recently expressed that he is not excited about the rap beefs that have engulfed hip-hop this year. From Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion to Kendrick Lamar and Drake, he is not impressed by the high-profile spats that have played out recently.

Many MCs have commented on the various feuds this year. Everyone from Joe Budden and Ice-T to Ma$e and Cam’Ron has been weighing in on the exchange of diss tracks. However, the disagreements aren’t just limited to hip-hop. Taylor Swift dropped a diss track aimed at Kim Kardashian, and Quavo has been butting heads with the R’n’B star Chris Brown.

Although hip-hop has always been a competitive genre, Lil B (real name Brandon McCartney) recently took to Twitter/X to share his thoughts on the current direction of travel within the culture and has, strangely, insisted that the very concept of rap beef is not an integral part of hip-hop and is in opposition to the real meaning of hip-hop.

Taking to Twitter/X, McCartney spoke about rap beefs, writing, “STAY POSITIVE I DONT LIKE HEARING THE BULLYING OR PEOPLE SAYING MEAN THINGS ABOUT EACH OTHER IN MUSIC OR HIP HOP! HIP HOP IS ABOUT LOVE!”

He continued, “AT THE SAME TIME HIP HOP IS ABOUT EXPERIENCE! I JUST HOPE NOBODY IS TRYING TO BULLY EACH OTHER OR BE MEAN! NO PUTTING OTHERS DOWN! XOX.” To the surprise of many, Lil B’s fans praised the emcee, agreed with him and asked about new music.

Lil B dropped an album late last year entitled Winged Wheelchair Squad. The 22-track project featured a significant variety of genres and had a running time of over one hour.

Underneath his most recent tweet commenting on this year’s rap beefs, the prolific rapper replied to a comment and revealed that he has even more new material dropping this month.
