Lauryn Hill and Wu-Tang Clan nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Lauryn Hill and Wu-Tang Clan have been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The 2026 nominees were announced on February 25th, ahead of the inductees being revealed in April.

Other artists nominated include The Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley, Mariah Carey, Phil Collins, Melissa Etheridge, Billy Idol, INXS, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, New Edition, Oasis, Pink, Sade, Shakira, and Luther Vandross.

In order to qualify for the ballot, each artist’s first single or album had to have been released in 2001 or earlier. 10 of the 17 nominees for 2026 have been nominated for the first time, including Wu-Tang.

In a statement, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, John Sykes, said, “This diverse list of talented nominees recognises the ever-evolving faces and sounds of Rock and Roll and its continued impact on youth culture.”

He added, “Induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honour, and we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2026 this fall.”

The voting is decided by 1,200 members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as well as a fan-voted poll.

Billy Idol and Joy Division/New Order return to the nominees after missing out on induction last year.

In 2025, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Soundgarden, Joe Cocker, Salt-N-Pepa, The White Stripes, Carol Kaye, Nicky Hopkins, Lenny Waronker, Thom Bell, and Warren Zevon were inducted.
