Lauryn Hill will perform on the Tom Joyner cruise in aid of HBCU students

Lauryn Hill will play on the Tom Joyner Foundation 2023 cruise in aid of students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The former radio presenter Tom Joyner said of the news in a press release, “I am so excited that Ms. Lauryn Hill is performing on the Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage 2023. She is one of the best of all time.”

The cruise is scheduled for May 20th-27th next year, and several performances from acclaimed stars will take place, as well as a number of seminars and themed nights. The press release added, “Cruisers coming to Party with a Purpose and help raise money for HBCU scholarships won’t be disappointed with what will be an amazing show!”

It appears that Hill is in a generous frame of mind this year, as she recently gave permission to Baby Keem to use a sample of the classic Fugees song ‘Killing Me Softly With His Song’ on the track ‘highway 95’ featured on the deluxe edition of his debut album The Melodic Blue. “Thank u Ms. Hill,” Keem said on Twitter.

Yet the Tom Joyner cruise may not be the only chance to see Hill perform next year. The iconic musician recently suggested that she would be going on tour in support of the 25th anniversary of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. When playing at the One Musicfest in Atlanta, Georgia, she told the crowd, “25 years on, so we gonna be back with those songs the way you can recognize them.”

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is the rapper’s debut solo album which was an absolute smash hit upon release, taking the top spot on the Billboard 200 in its first week. It combined soul, R&B, hip hop and reggae and explored the themes of Hill’s pregnancy and the difficulties of being in the Fugees.
