Lauryn Hill explains why she hasn’t released an album since 1998

Lauryn Hill has explained why she hasn’t released an album since her debut.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill came out in 1998 and broke records on both the Billboard 200 chart and at the Grammys.

It’s now been 28 years since the project was released, and there are no signs of a follow-up ever being released.

FRAIM World recently shared an Instagram post discussing why Hill hasn’t released another album.

Hill took to the comments to state that she disagreed with the points that were made and shared her own explanation.

“When you’re inspired and desire to be principled, what doesn’t get talked about enough is the drain… nor the challenge to find safety so that you can create with integrity,” she began.

She continued, “Most see opportunity as dollars only and often exclude the ‘sense.’ The Score nor the Miseducation were made because we were ’allowed’ to represent what we did, we fought for every inch. Wild success can cause greed that begins to degenerate the art for the money. We’re people living through all this.”

After describing herself as “Harriet Tubman figure,“ she said, “If it was so easy to do, where is that expression now on the world stage? Systems fear what they can’t control. Creativity is most potent when it’s free. If I did nothing else, I introduced standards and possibilities to a generation that didn’t know they could operate on that level before then.”

As a member of the Fugees, Hill released two albums: Blunted on Reality in 1994 and The Score in 1996. Despite her absence, she has frequently toured in the years since The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
