Krondon to play crime boss in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’
Krondon has been cast in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. The Los Angeles rapper will star as crime boss Tombstone alongside Tom Holland.
The 49-year-old (real name Marvin Jones III) is set to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is currently filming and scheduled for release on July 31st, 2026. Holland recently suffered a concussion on set, but the production is set to continue on September 29th.
Deadline first reported the news about Krondon. The character Tombstone is a hulking albino man with filed teeth, and is known as an enemy of Spider-Man and Daredevil.
The rapper previously voiced Tombstone in the 2018 animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and is set to appear in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, set to arrive in 2027.
Brand New Day will also star Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Tramell Tillman, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Michael Mando, Jacob Batalon, and others.
Krondon is a member of Strong Arm Steady, which previously included Xzibit, Planet Asia, and DJ Khalil. He released his last album, White Boiz: Neighborhood Wonderful, in 2015. The collaborative project with Shafiq Husayn featured Anderson Paak, Thundercat and Blu.
He transitioned into acting in the 2010s and is best known for his role as Tobias Whale in Black Lightning between 2018 and 2021.
Speaking on his acting career, he told Complex, “I think one of the first big challenges for me was understanding that I have had a lot of experience putting my own personal persona, and what I wanted to write, my own story. That’s the thing that I’ve found, as an actor, as opposed to a musician.”
He continued, “When you’re a hip-hop artist, you’re able to tell your story, whatever that may be. Acting, the challenge of it and where the skill and craft for it comes in, is you have to depict someone else’s story in a way that is extremely believable.”
