Killer Mike supports the return of the 'Vince Staples Show'

Killer Mike of Run The Jewels has received a lot of praise recently. Earlier this year, at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, the Atlanta artist was honoured for his album Michael, and took home the coveted award for ‘Best Rap Album.’ His song ‘Scientists & Engineers’ also earned him two Grammys for ‘Best Rap Song’ and ‘Best Rap Performance.’

However, he has now openly supported another critically acclaimed artist, Vince Staples, who has had television critics raving about his Netflix series, The Vince Staples Show. Earlier this year, Staples asked his fanbase to pressure Netflix to produce more episodes of the series, and now Killer Mike (real name Michael Render) has joined the fight.

According to HipHopDX, Render has been pressuring Netflix online for another series. Under an Instagram photo of him and Staples, Render wrote, “@netflix we need season 2 of The @VinceStaples show and Trigger Warning with Killer Mike! ☦️ #MICHAEL”

Killer Mike had made it clear to Staples that he was an avid supporter of his show. When the Big Fish Theory posted “Who’s watching?” on social media, he got an enthusiastic response from Run The Jewels emcee Killer Mike, who responded, “Me!”

The Michael lyricist went on to call Staples a genius after a fan suggested he needed advice, writing, “He ain’t need my advice. That N*gga a Genuine Genius! Imma friend and a fan. Cuz got this!!!!”

Host of the Drink Champs podcast N.O.R.E also praised Staples for the series and unveiled that he believes it is the best TV show in the world right now. The Long Beach rhymer has received support from many other prominent hip-hop figures.

The Vince Staples Show premiered on Netflix on February 15th and stars the rapper as himself. Set in his hometown of Long Beach, fans watch as the main character “explores his unpredictable life over the course of five satirical tales.”
