Killer Mike speaks on his relationship with Brian Kemp

It is well-known that Run The Jewels artist Killer Mike has a close relationship with the Republican governor Brian Kemp, and in a recent interview, the emcee addressed his friendship with the politician.

During a recent appearance on the daytime television show The View, Sunny Hostin asked Killer Mike (real name Michael Render) about his relationship with Kemp. During the interview, Hostin admitted that she was irked by Render’s support for the politician.

However, the Atlanta lyricist unveiled that he is not a supporter but just an affiliate, stating, “[It’s] not support of Kemp. That’s some misinformation. You can not like me, but don’t lie on me.”

He continued, “He’s the governor of my state, I have to be involved with him. I can’t divorce myself. But let me say this, if you criticize someone, don’t lie. Don’t say I didn’t support [Stacey] Abrams because I did.”

Although Kemp is a Republican, Render admitted that he has also had involvement with the Democrat party, revealing, “Don’t say I don’t support Democrats because I’ve helped get three Democratic mayors elected, two state representatives elected, but if someone is in the king’s seat, I’m not going to not have dinner with the king on behalf of my people. I have to do that.”

In 2020, Brian Kemp, the Governor of Georgia, shared a photo of him sitting down with Render, where he revealed the had discussed human trafficking in Georgia and how the COVID-19 pandemic had affected small businesses and the music industry.

The photo was captioned, “Today, Marty and I had a great meeting with @KillerMike. We discussed how small businesses and the music industry are weathering the pandemic, the value of our skilled trade workers, and our fight to end human trafficking in Georgia. We look forward to seeing him again soon!”
