The past weekend saw the first series of performances for this year’s Coachella Music and Arts Festival. As such, over 70,000 music fans flocked to Indio, California, to watch their favourite artists perform at the event. However, the ‘Blah Blah Blah’ vocalist Kesha made quite an impact during her cameo.
The singer (real name Kesha Sebert) hit the stage on April 14th as a special guest alongside Reneé Rapp to perform a medley of her most well-known songs. However, for her performance of ‘TikTok’, she revised the lyrics, which initially heard Sebert sing, “Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy.”
Following the recent mess that Diddy has found himself in as he faces multiple sexual assault and harassment lawsuits, Kesha decided to alter the lyrics and instead sang, “Wake up in the morning like fuck P Diddy,” putting her middle finger in the air alongside Rapp.
The track, released in 2010, even featured an ad-lib from Diddy saying “Hey, what’s up girl?” after the line. However, it now seems that Sebert is completely distancing herself from Diddy and rejecting him.
During a Los Angeles pitstop on her Only Love tour last year, she removed Diddy’s name from the song entirely. Sebert instead sang, “Wake up in the morning feeling just like me.” The show followed Diddy’s out-of-court settlement with Cassie Ventura, who had accused the Bad Boy founder of physical and sexual abuse.
Since Kesha’s LA performance in November, Diddy (real name Sean Combs) has faced a barrage of lawsuits from figures within the music industry and has set social media alight as various individuals, including the likes of Andrew Tate and Joe Budden, weigh in on the conversation.
Aside from Kesha, Rapp brought out Towa Bird, who joined her in performing ‘My Tummy Hurts.’ Rapp performed all of the tracks from her debut EP, Everything to Everyone. You can watch Kesha’s bold rejection of Diddy below.
