Kendrick Lamar’s friend teases new album

Kendrick Lamar has been basking in glory for most of 2024. Following his battle with Drake, he emerged victorious and unscathed. However, longtime fans saw the feud as a distraction from the meaningful creation of art. More specifically, a full body of work to follow up Mr Morale & The Big Steppers.

That said, one of Lamar’s close friends has suggested that the DAMN creator is preparing to release a new album. The news was disclosed by one of Lamar’s Top Dawg Entertainment affiliates, Devin Malik.

Malik has worked behind the scenes at Top Dawg Entertainment for years and, as a rapper and producer, has worked with some of the label’s most well-known names, including the likes of ScHoolboy Q and Isaiah Rashad.

However, he is also privy to a lot of Kendrick Lamar’s studio sessions, and the two are good friends. That said, the beatmaker and emcee recently took to social media and posted a video of himself alongside Lamar on the wildin’ at the Pop Out concert in Inglewood.

Above the video, Malik wrote, “Mood cause new k dot album otwwww.” Terrace Martin, another close affiliate of Lamar, has given similar hints and teased that a follow-up to Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is indeed on the way.

Martin declared on Instagram Live earlier this year, “Aye, let me tell y’all the records I’m excited for. I’m excited for YG’s album, I’m excited for Mustard’s album. I’m excited for a lot of people, but there’s two albums. I’m going crazy. I can’t wait ’til they drop! Roddy Ricch’s album, and whenever Kendrick drops his album, I’m excited for those two. Those two Compton artists is like, I’m excited. So much shit bubbling, you know?”

Many insist that the evidence of Kendrick Lamar releasing a new album is furthered by the fact that he is headlining next year’s Super Bowl halftime show, which could potentially be the first of many live shows for a 2025 arena tour.

Furthermore, Kendrick Lamar has already declined to headline next year’s Coachella, which many attribute to an upcoming world tour.
