Kendrick Lamar to be interviewed by Timothée Chalamet before Super Bowl
The whole of hip-hop is excited about Kendrick Lamar and his upcoming Super Bowl performance in New Orleans. However, as he continues the press run for his February 9th bonanza, the emcee has unveiled that he and Hollywood darling Timothée Chalamet will be speaking all things rap.
A snippet recently surfaced on social media showing the ‘Not Like Us’ rhymer and the Wonka star speaking, during which the pair revealed there will be some “top show secrets” in the interview. Although it’s unclear exactly when it will land on streaming services, reports have suggested that it will arrive on February 7th.
In the short and unexpected trailer, Chalamet spoke about his excitement for Super Bowl LIX’s halftime show, stating, “I’m most looking forward to – at the Super Bowl halftime show this year – seeing Kendrick, seeing what songs he chose!” This comment from Chalamet alone has got many wondering whether or not Lamar may pre-emptively confirm the performance of ‘Not Like Us.’
In the snippet, the actor continued, “‘Cause, though I get to do this interview, I’ve been given no early access, you know? No top-shelf secrets. I’m excited to see if he brings anyone out, and I’m excited to see the vibe in New Orleans. A city I’ve never been, so…”
Still, the trailer promotes two things at once. The first is Lamar’s upcoming appearance at the Super Bowl. However, the second is Timothée Chalamet’s nomination for ‘Best Actor’ at this year’s Oscar awards for his performance in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown.
In this latest trailer, Lamar seems relaxed, and although people have wondered whether or not he will perform ‘Not Like Us‘ at the Super Bowl, it seems like he will, irrespective of Universal Music Group’s defamation lawsuit.
This upcoming interview with Timothée Chalamet follows Kendrick’s Apple Music Super Bowl press conference with Hot 97 host Ebro Darden and Nadeska Alexis, during which he finally discussed why he battled Drake and also gave his fans a bit of insight as to what inspired his album GNX.
The elusive Compton lyricist rarely speaks to the media, sand fans are very excited to hear so much from him in the lead up to his performance. This year’s Super Bowl will see the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs, and is set to have 100 to 150 million viewers. The game will take place in New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome.
