Kendrick Lamar and SZA announce ‘Grand National Tour’

Kendrick Lamar has announced that he’ll be touring next year in support of his new album GNX. Titled Grand National Tour, the run of dates will see him travelling across North America alongside his former TDE label mate, SZA.

The stadium tour will begin in April in Minneapolis and stop in major cities such as Atlanta, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, Detroit, and Toronto before concluding in Washington, DC, in June.

Presented by Live Nation, pgLang and Top Dawg Entertainment, tickets for the Grand National Tour will go on sale on December 6th at 10am local time.

SZA recently collaborated with Kendrick Lamar on ‘Gloria’ and ‘Luther’, which just debuted at number three on the Hot 100, from his most recent album. They’ve also collaborated in the past on tracks like ‘All the Stars’, ‘Doves in the Wind’, ‘Babylon’ and Jay Rock’s ‘Easy Bake’.

This isn’t the first time they’ll be touring together, having previously teamed up on TDE’s Championship Tour in 2018 alongside Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, SiR and Lance Skiiiwalker.

Speaking to British Vogue last month, Kendrick Lamar claimed SZA is making the most beautiful songs of her generation. “Today, I recognise a more expressive SZA,” he said. “The shy shit is completely out the window – to a degree, at least. She has the answers to some of the things she was curious about and is willing to tell it all in the most disruptive yet beautiful compositions this generation has ever heard.”

Not only that but earlier this year, Kendrick Lamar told SZA that he was proud of the person she had turned into after meeting all those years ago.

“I’m not only proud of your artistry, I’m proud of you in the sense of carrying and respecting who you are and being able to go through emotions and aware of it and say, ‘Okay, this is me. I can either grow from it or I can put it away and come back to it,'” he said in a conversation for Harpers Bazaar. “That’s what I get from you. I think you got a good sense of it. Just knocking out the fear of it all.”
