Kendrick Lamar could be set to release more new music
Kendrick Lamar only released his new album last month, but he could be readying even more music for fans in the near future. Fresh off from dropping GNX, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, some of Kendrick’s affiliates have teased the arrival of more material.
During a recent Instagram Live session, TDE rapper and longtime collaborator Ab-Soul, as well as DJ Hed, a radio DJ and friend of K.Dot, claimed that he “ain’t done” yet as far as new music is concerned.
“You see what Dot doing,” Hed said, before Soulo added, “Unc, come on, man.” The DJ continued, “Dot going crazy right now. We ain’t gonna give them too much. I will say this: the homie ain’t done and this what n*ggas is on right now, so you could take that however you want.”
The news comes shortly after Lefty Gunplay, the West Coast rapper who collaborated with Kendrick Lamar on ‘TV Off’, stated that a deluxe version of GNX was on the way.
“He has some stuff,” he said on The Bootleg Kev Podcast. “We did two, three songs. He has some stuff in the chamber. He told me that we’re going to work again, for sure. I know he’s got a deluxe version coming out. He’s very secretive.”
He continued, addressing the fact he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement, “Everybody thought that I was playing — I wasn’t, though, as much as I wanted to tell everybody. I almost blew it. ‘Cause we signed NDAs and I couldn’t wait to tell everybody. We had to sign NDAs and they were like, ‘You’re going [in the studio] with Kendrick.’
“And it didn’t hit me ’til he walked in there and gave me a hug. He’s been locked in with me since April and he said that I’m the missing piece that the West Coast needed.”
GNX opened at number one on the Billboard 200, with his song ‘Squabble Up’ debuting at number one on the Hot 100. Kendrick Lamar dominates the entire top five, with ‘TV Off’, ‘Luther’, ‘Wacced Out Murals’ and ‘Hey Now’ rounding it out.
