Kendrick Lamar has “big surprise” guest lined up for Super Bowl
It’s not long before Kendrick Lamar is set to take to one of the biggest stages in music, as the rapper will be performing at the Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans on February 9th. While Kendrick’s plans for the show are being firmly kept under wraps, there are reports he has a secret special guest lined up to perform alongside him.
It has been a huge year for Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar. After emerging victorious from his legendary rap battle with Drake while also taking home five Grammys for his diss track ‘Not Like Us’, uniting California at his show The Pop Out and releasing the critically acclaimed GNX, this Super Bowl performance feels like the culmination of an incredibly successful run.
Lamar has already confirmed that he will have long-time collaborator and friend SZA perform with him during the halftime show, but reports are coming in that there will be even more on offer.
Hits Daily Double recently posted a blurb ahead of Kendrick Lamar’s performance at the Super Bowl. Here, they provided an update on the information that most people were already aware of; however, they also hinted that Lamar planned to bring out an unconfirmed special guest during his performance.
“[The] Hip hop giant brought his broom to Grammys, sweeping up ROTY, SOTY genre wins,” they reported, “En route to massive Massive Super Bowl look (with rumours of a big surprise)”. There are hints as to who this unconfirmed special guest, but if fans weren’t already excited, they are now.
After speculation, the rapper has also confirmed that he will be performing the Drake diss track ‘Not Like Us’. In the midst of the UMG lawsuit, there were many question marks hovering over whether Lamar would be able to play the song currently in contention, but it is most likely he will be playing it with some lines edited or left out.
The potential “big surprise” will not be revealed until the halftime show, as details about Kendrick Lamar’s performance are being kept strictly under wraps.
