Kendrick Lamar collaborator arrested on murder charges

Los Angeles rapper Young Threat, best known for collaborating with Kendrick Lamar, has been hit with murder charges.

Threat (real name Deonta Simuel) was reportedly arrested on December 16th by the Los Angeles Police Department’s robbery and homicide division.

Jail records obtained by No Jumper reveal that the rapper is facing charges of murder and attempted murder. His bond is set at $4 million.

In the comments of the post, someone wrote, “Given a great chance and wasted it to the streets smhh.” Another person said, “WTH yal be on bruh you too close to your dreams to be making these type mistakes.”

Threat appeared on the title track of Kendrick’s GNX album, which was released in November 2024. Produced by Sounwave, Jack Antonoff, Kenny & Billy, and Rascal, the song also features Hitta J3 and Peysoh.

In his verse, Threat raps, “It’s gettin’ down to the wire/ Get on my Bob the Builder shit, get down with the pliers/ Been comin’ back-to-back hits, how this n*gga ain’t tired?/ I’m with some rockstar bitches, they want Lizzie McGuire.”

‘GNX’ peaked at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100, while racking up over 77 million Spotify streams. During an interview, Threat revealed he only recorded his verse the day before the GNX album was released.

“I did not know that shit was about to drop as soon as it dropped, man,” he said. “The day before that shit dropped, we had left the booth … That shit was a blessing … Shout out K Dot, man. He did that.”

Threat has over 44,000 monthly Spotify listeners, releasing his latest project, Reincarnated, in April 2025. His biggest solo track, ‘Who Gone Slide’, has 4.7 million streams.
