Kanye West turns on Jim Jones despite recent meeting: “Fuck Jim Jones”
Kanye West recently began reaching out to more people in hip-hop to mend broken fences. Still, he is a volatile character and, after seemingly wanting to get back on good terms with former Dipset member Jim Jones.
Earlier this year, Jones revealed that he reached sobriety after three decades. However, he also shared that this is partially due to West. The Dipset emcee has recently been in Japan with West, and the two former Roc-a-Fella artists were seemingly working on music and fashion.
In January, Jones took to Instagram to reveal that he hadn’t smoked weed or drunk alcohol for several consecutive days and admitted that this is a feat he hasn’t achieved since the 1990s, writing, “I ain’t smoked in five days. I’ve been around here bouncing like a kid like I’m in high school. I definitely got that high school feeling.”
However, all of that is firmly in the past as Kanye has lashed out at him in an explosive X rant where he called out several of his peers. The Chicago emcee called out his counterparts for not backing him while he was receiving backlash for his antisemitic remarks and aimed at the likes of Pusha T and Ty Dolla $ign.
Jones was also on his hit list and, in a seemingly random post, wrote, “FUCK JIM JONES.” Ye followed up later in the day, adding, “IT/HE’S NOT WORTH AN EXPLANATION.” Kanye seemed to have the most resentment for those he has collaborated with or helped in some way.
He even took shots at Kendrick Lamar, who hasn’t been involved with Kanye in any capacity during his career. Taking to X, the Graduation creator wrote, “I HAAAAAATED ‘NOT LIKE US.'” He added “KENDRICK PLEEEEASE COME DISS MEEEE ON BEHALF OF LUCIEN GRANGE PLEEEEEASE.”
The Chicago native then turned on CHROMAKOPIA rapper Tyler The Creator, typing, “THIS NIGGA HAS NEVER MADE A MEMORABLE SONG. hE’S LIKE IF AN ARTIST CHECKED EVERY BOX OTHER THAN HAVING GOOD VERSES OR SONGS. AND HIS LAST ALBUM RIPPED OFF MY WHOLE LANGUAGE.”
None of the MCs targeted have responded yet, but Ye seems to be distancing himself from the culture at will.
