Kanye West returns to X with “sensitive content” warning
Kanye West is back on X following his antisemitic and misogynistic posts last week. The Chicago rapper deactivated his account on February 10th after flooding his timeline with hateful messages, but his account has now been reinstated. However, this time, there’s a warning on his page.
Ye’s messages last week included “I love Hitler” and “I’m a Nazi,” while calling himself “racist” and admitting he would never apologise to Jewish people for any harm he caused. Now, his account includes a note that it might contain sensitive content.
“Caution: This profile may include potentially sensitive content,” the message reads. “You’re seeing this warning because they post potentially sensitive images or language. Do you still want to view it?” All of his prior posts have been deleted, and he has yet to post anything new.
X owner Elon Musk acknowledged Kanye’s posts in response to someone complaining about his actions. “Given what he has posted, his account is now classified as NSFW. You should not be seeing that anymore,” he said.
In a final post before deleting his account, Ye thanked Musk for letting him share his views. “I’m logging out of Twitter,” he said. “I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board. It was like an Ayahuasca trip. Love all of you who gave me your energy and attention.”
After that, Kanye caused further harm by paying for a Super Bowl advert, only to lead people to his Yeezy website, which was only selling a swastika T-shirt. The Campaign Against Antisemitism called on Musk to ban Ye from X due to hate speech.
“As if we needed further proof of Kanye’s antisemitism, he chose to put a single item for sale on his website – a T-shirt emblazoned with a swastika,” an ADL post read. “The swastika is the symbol adopted by Hitler as the primary emblem of the Nazis.”
The post continued, “It galvanised his followers in the 20th century and continues to threaten and instil fear in those targeted by antisemitism and white supremacy. If that wasn’t enough, the t-shirt is labelled on Kanye’s website as ‘HH-01,’ which is code for ‘Heil Hitler.’”
