Kanye West reportedly falls asleep on the witness stand

Kanye West reportedly fell asleep during a trial over the Malibu mansion he purchased for $57 million in 2021.

Ye testified in a Los Angeles courtroom on March 6th after a construction project manager and security guard, Tony Saxon, accused him of mistreatment.

According to Rolling Stone, Kanye frequently yawned, closed his eyes, and caught his head from falling on the witness stand.

At one point, Ron Zambrano, the attorney representing Saxon, turned around and said to a colleague, “Is he asleep?” After the incident, the judge asked Zambrano to “make things a little snappier.”

During his testimony, Ye asked the lawyer to repeat a question after a long pause with his eyes closed. The stenographer read it back, “When you hired Saxon, did you understand you had hired Saxon to help you execute your vision for the Ando house?”

Then, Kanye asked for the question to be repeated once again, before replying “yes” while appearing exhausted. Ye allegedly answered “I don’t recall” to dozens of questions while he was up on the stand.

Saxon claims he worked on renovations for Kanye’s Malibu home. He filed a $1 million lawsuit against the rapper in September 2023, alleging he was hired in September 2021 but wrongfully fired after two months.

The man claims he faced dangerous working conditions and wasn’t fully paid for his work. As an alleged live-in caretaker, Saxon claims to have slept in “makeshift conditions, finding empty spaces on the ground and using his coat as a makeshift bedding.”

Ye denied the allegations. In court, the rapper said he doesn’t remember meeting Saxon and only vaguely remembers terminating him. He added that he didn’t know about him allegedly living at the property.
