Kanye West reportedly at work on ‘Donda 2’

Kanye West is reportedly already busy working on the sequel to Donda.

West shared the first instalment of the album in the summer after a prolonged release campaign that witnessed him bringing Donda to stadiums in Atlanta and Chicago for elaborate listening parties before he eventually dropped the record. Now, it appears that his next project will be a follow-up.

The news comes from Steven Victor, who worked alongside West as COO of the rapper’s label, GOOD Music. He has claimed in a statement provided to Complex Magazine that Ye has already begun work on “his new masterpiece”.

Victor also stated that the title of the album is currently Donda 2, and this would be the first time in West’s career that he has officially made a sequel. Although, his first three records, The College DropoutLate Registration and Graduation, combine to create a trilogy even if it was never officially marketed in such a way.

Hip Hop Hero’s review of Donda said, “The most impressive aspect of Donda is that it’s able to ride that line and never go up in flames. The album is way too long, and would have greatly benefitted from stripping away the glut of guests, instead, focusing on Kanye honing in on his mother’s effect on him. It’s self-aggrandizing and self-flagellating.

“But in the same way that congregations build extravagant churches to honour their gods, Kanye has built a massive testament to his mother’s legacy, from a Chicago suburb to one of the biggest albums of all time. That’s quite a journey.”
