Kanye West provides update on Lil Uzi Vert’s medical condition
Lil Uzi Vert was rushed to the hospital earlier this week following an unknown medical emergency. Now, Kanye West has updated fans on his condition.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on April 23rd, Ye wrote, “UZI is okay.” The Chicago rapper shared a screenshot of text messages with producer Digital Nas, who had sent him a conversation he had with someone closer to Uzi.
One of the texts read, “They saying he’s dehydrated but I know there’s more to it,” while another said, “Vert’s cousin just confirmed that Uzi’s okay.”
Uzi was hospitalised on April 21st after paramedics received a 911 call for a “sick person” in Manhattan, New York City. The Philly artist was reportedly wheeled out of the reception of a luxury building on a stretcher at around 2:30pm and put in an ambulance.
They were conscious when leaving the apartment, but were taken to the emergency room and kept there overnight. As of April 22nd, Uzi was still in the hospital.
Kanye collaborated with Uzi on Travis Scott’s ‘Watch‘ in 2018. Produced by Pi’erre Bourne, the song peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
In 2020, Uzi took to social media to share a braggadocious video claiming they were a better artist than Kanye.
“On some real shit, Kanye West ain’t fucking with me,” he said in the clip. “It’s me, like me. Like, for real though, it’s really me. Like, I ain’t gonna lie. Like, when I be making them songs and those songs only go platinum once, I do that on purpose. I swear.”
However, Kanye didn’t have any problems with Uzi’s comments. In response, he said, “I love UZI. I be saying the same thing about Steve Jobs. I be feeling just like UZI.”
