Kanye West fan leaks Big Sean album in response to alleged diss

Big Sean has completely dominated the hip-hop news cycle for the last 24 hours, and it all started with a seemingly harmless On the Radar freestyle. This rap dropped on July 16th, inviting fans to pick apart the bars and theorise over the other rappers that Big Sean might have been talking about. Kendrick Lamar was hypothesised but debunked, and then eyes turned towards Kanye West.

DJHed mentioned that Big Sean was referring to a Gemini rapper. It seems incredibly likely that in his freestyle, Sean was talking about West, and this possibility has been met with such disdain by so many that it has completely disrupted the rapper’s entire album rollout, despite it being unconfirmed.

On July 17th, a user posted an album’s worth of new material from Big Sean. The file had a message attached in which the user revealed they were a Kanye West fan, and this leak was done in retaliation to the Sean’s comments during his freestyle.

“Since he wanna disrespect Ye so much, here’s the album,” they wrote, “Fuck him and his whole team.” Naturally, many users questioned whether the leaked files were legitimate or not, causing the user to come out and provide some clarification, saying that Big Sean’s recent lead single ‘Precision’ would be on the album but not in the leaked files.

The user also listed some of the features on the new album to further strengthen the case for the leaks being real. “This was the album as of couple months ago,” they said, “Features Nas, Dream, Jhene and some other people.” An alternative album title was also provided, as the record was listed as Better Me Than You.

The files and the message have since been taken down, but not before fans were able to download the album for themselves. The user has also confirmed that Kanye West himself urged them to leak the album, which would be a brutal retaliation given the rapper’s checkered history.

In an interview in 2021 on Drink Champs, West said that signing Big Sean to GOOD Music was the “worst thing” he’d ever done. Sean took the criticism seemingly well but later confessed that he was hurt.

“At first, I thought it was hilarious. I thought the shit was funny,” he said, reflecting on the comments, “Then I took it [personally].”
