Kanye West has told fans why they shouldn’t expect him to create a “f*cking NFT”.
At the moment, it’s impossible to spend too long scrolling on social media without seeing a celebrity showing off a brand new digital ape they’ve just spent millions to purchase, or even worse, convincing their fans to get in on the craze.
While Ye has nothing against creating products and selling the final product to an audience, he’s still a firm believer that it needs to be tangible. Whether this is clothes or creating immersive experiences, all that matters to West is that there is a “real” aspect to his art.
In a handwritten Instagram letter, the rapper explained, “My focus is on building real products in the real world.” Ye then reveals “real food”, “real clothes”, and “real shelter” are the three things he is currently focussing his energy on. He also added: “Do not ask me to do a fucking NFT.”
However, he did finish the letter by writing, “Ask me later,” which suggests West perhaps is not as against the project as he initially made out.
