Kanye West asks Donald Trump to be his presidential running mate in 2024

Controversial rapper Kanye West has long flexed about his plans to run for president in 2024. Now, he’s looking to shake hands with former president Donald Trump as his running mate for the forthcoming US Election.

In 2020, West put himself forward as a US presidential candidate but conceded his run after winning just 50,000 votes. As he withdrew from the last election, West announced his plans to run again in 2024, which he confirmed earlier this week as he enlisted the assistance of alt-right voice Milo Yiannopoulos for his campaign.

Donald Trump, who returned to Twitter last week after being removed from the platform following the infamous January 6th US Capitol riots in 2021, is also set to run for president in 2024. He formerly served one term as the country’s 45th president between 2017 and 2021 and is back for more. After filing his application to the Federal Election Commission, he announced his candidacy last week from the Mar-a-Lago hotel in Florida.

Kanye posted on his newly-reinstated Twitter account yesterday morning to announce that he had visited Trump at Mar-a-Lago and asked him to be his running mate.

“First time at Mar-a-Lago,” Kanye tweeted. “Rain and traffic. Can’t believe I kept President Trump waiting. And I had on jeans. Yikes.”

After posting a poll for fans, Kanye added: “What you guys think his response was when I asked him to be my running mate in 2024?” The options for the poll were: “That’s very Ye” and “That’s very Nay”.

Last week, fellow rapper Akon referred to the recent controversy surrounding West, stating that he believes the rapper’s actions are all part of a secret scheme to become the next US President.

Over the past couple of months, West has caused a stir after a publicity stunt in which he wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt at Paris Fashion Week. Following the stunt, he was booted from Twitter and Instagram after posting antisemitic remarks on the platforms.
