Kanye West “determined” to perform in UK after Wireless Festival cancellation
Kanye West is reportedly “determined” to perform in the UK following the cancellation of Wireless Festival.
Ye was set to headline all three nights of the London festival at Finsbury Park in July until the government banned him from the UK.
However, according to The Sun, the Chicago rapper is still hoping to perform overseas in the near future.
“Ye has not given up on his dream of performing in the UK again,” a source said. “He knows that it takes time to convince and persuade authorities, but is willing to work with them so that they have a better understanding of his prior bipolar episode.”
They continued, “Ye has a huge fan base in the UK and is determined to come here and perform again. He has a long history of live shows and major festival appearances in the UK and has an affinity for the country and its people.”
After Kanye was banned from the UK due to his antisemitic comments, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said, “Kanye West should never have been invited to headline Wireless. This government stands firmly with the Jewish community, and we will not stop in our fight to confront and defeat the poison of antisemitism. We will always take the action necessary to protect the public and uphold our values.”
Kanye stated that his only goal was to “present a show of change, bringing unity, peace, and love” through his music.
“Ye is trying to prove he can be trusted and that what happened in the past was a direct result of his bipolar disorder,” the source said. “He does not hold those views. His concerts across Europe, including in Istanbul, Arnhem and Tbilisi, have been safe, free from controversy and have not featured the song Heil Hitler or any kind of antisemitic statement from Ye. That is because those are views he does not hold.”
They added, “These shows have proven that Ye’s LIVE Concert Tour can go ahead without issue and are focused on music, art and creativity.”
