Kanye West breaks silence after being banned from the UK
Kanye West has spoken out for the first time since he was banned from the UK earlier this week.
On April 7th, it was announced that Ye had been denied entry to the UK over his antisemitic comments, resulting in his headlining shows at London’s Wireless Festival being cancelled.
In the early hours of April 10th, Kanye headed to social media with his first post since the news was confirmed.
Ye took to his Instagram Stories to share a video of schoolchildren singing the words to his song All the Love’ in unison.
In the clip, they sing, “We don’t have to worry/ And we don’t have to hold on/ To pain we left behind/ Wounds get healed with timе/ And now you got all the love and all the shinе/ You always want it all the time, tonight.”
‘All the Love’ is a collaboration with André Troutman that appears on Kanye’s latest album, Bully, released on March 28th.
The song has over 29 million streams on Spotify and debuted at number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Ye previously addressed the controversy around him headlining Wireless before the ban and cancellation of the festival.
“My only goal is to come to London and present a show of change, bringing unity, peace and love through my music,” he said. “I would be grateful for the opportunity to meet with members of the Jewish community in the UK in person, to listen.”
He continued, “I know words aren’t enough – I’ll have to show change through my actions. If you’re open, I’m here.”
The shows would have marked Kanye’s first in the UK since headlining Glastonbury Festival in 2015.
