Kanye West apologises to Jay-Z after calling his kids “retarded”
Kanye West has apologised to his former friend and mentor, Jay-Z, for posting derogatory remarks about his children. On March 18th, West went on a tirade against both Jay-Z and Beyonce, during which he said a number of highly inflammatory things.
While on his rampage, West wrote posts such as, “WAIT HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN JAY Z AND BEYONCÉ’S YOUNGER KIDS? THEY’RE RETARDED. NO LIKE, LITERALLY. AND THIS IS WHY ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION IS A BLESSING. HAVING RETARDED CHILDREN IS A CHOICE.”
He then made even more incendiary comments, writing, “I NEED EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT I TOOK THE POST ABOUT JAY Z AND BEYONCÉ’S FAMILY DOWN BECAUSE THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY OF MY TWITTER BEING CANCELLED. I TOOK IT DOWN LIKE DOWN SYNDROME. GET IT. AM I RIGHT. FUCK THE WORLD.”
Although he quickly deleted the posts, millions saw the tweet, and it quickly became one of the biggest stories of the day in hip-hop. However, in a strange move, he then re-uploaded them and doubled down. The Chicago emcee made several comments about how Jay and Beyonce’s seven-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir Carter, were conceived through vitro fertilisation.
Although at the time Kanye seemed confident in his beliefs, he has now come out to apologise and recently posted on X (formerly Twitter), “I’m sorry Jay- Z. I be feeling bad about my tweet, but I still feel I gave my life to this industry and thought so many people were my family, but when I needed family on some real shit, none of these rap n****s had my back.”
West has, on many occasions, insisted that Jay-Z abandoned him after he came out as a Donald Trump supporter. Although no one knows what Jay-Z and Beyonce feel about Kanye’s comments, it has been reported by Page Six that the power couple found Kanye’s words “shocking” as well as “vulgar and offensive.”
Following West’s rant, Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, entered the conversation. Taking to Instagram, Knowles posted, “It’s hard to remain positive and classy in the face of ignorance and evil but I know that no weapon formed against me or my family shall prosper. This battle is not mine, but the Lord’s, I know that God has got this.”
