Kai Cenat admits Kendrick Lamar beat Drake in their rap battle
Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has occasionally shown support for Drake, but recently, he assured his fans that, in his opinion, Kendrick Lamar beat Drake in their rap battle last year.
During the enthralling beef last year, Cenat watched each diss track live for the first time on his channel in front of thousands of viewers across the world. In a recent interview with Billboard magazine, the streamer said that it was the “most fun experience” he has ever had on his platform.
The Twitch icon loved every second of it, and during his interview, he expressed that it was something the culture hadn’t witnessed before, telling the publication, “We never experienced something like that!” He continued, “It was a good week. Everybody had their opinions. I was literally hopping on stream and had like 60,000 viewers. As soon as they dropped, my s**t spiked to like 100,000.”
Cenat told Billboard he had a good relationship with Drake but wasn’t going to lie about his opinion, stating, “I’m cool with Drake, so people would expect me to be on Drake’s side. But I’m not going to lie – Kendrick won that battle. It was good. I loved every second of it. I was just appreciating the moment. Like, bro, we got bangers right now that’s dropping back to back, and everybody’s talking about them. It was definitely fire.”
Across the entire beef, the New York native managed to pull in over 30 million views by simply reacting to records like ‘Euphoria,’ ‘Family Matters,’ and arguably the most popular from the feud, ‘Not Like Us.’
Cenat was recently referenced in Drake’s defamation lawsuit as someone who helped disseminate the lie that he was a paedophile. In the lawsuit aimed at Universal Music Group, the Toronto native accused the record label of “whitelisting” Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ so it could spread even further online.
During a stream shortly after it had been announced Drake was officially suing for defamation, Cenat exclaimed, “What the f**k?! I’m getting sued? I was told to stay on stream! That n**gga is cap!” The ‘Streamer of the Year’ winner then realised he wasn’t actually the one being indicted, and in relief, told his viewers, “Oh, I’m good! So, he’s just using us as an example of [people who were] spreading misinformation type s**t? I mean, if I’m not getting sued, n**ga.”
Many have assumed Drake’s lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) has been filed with some information that is not yet available to the public. But the emcee has previously suggested that UMG keeps several streamers on their payroll to react to and promote songs they are looking to propel into the charts. Still, the reaction to the filing has been entirely negative. Furthermore, the culture has effectively rejected the lawsuit and Drake as an artist.
