Joe Budden labels Drake a “corpse”
Joe Budden has taken aim at Drake after the Toronto rapper made fun of him on his Instagram burner account this week. The former Slaughterhouse member called Drizzy a “corpse” after the 6 God posted a video of him smoking a cigarette while getting out of a car, seemingly mocking his appearance.
Drake has been highly active on his @plottttwistttttt profile in recent days, sharing posts for the first time since September 2024. In the Budden clip, Lil Wayne‘s ‘Let It All Work Out’ is playing in the background, with Drizzy writing in the caption, “$$$HITTING MEEEEEE.”
Budden came across the post and didn’t take kindly to it. Speaking on the Joe Budden Podcast, he hurled abuse at Drake and referenced Kendrick Lamar tearing him apart during the Super Bowl halftime show with his ‘Not Like Us’ record.
“Drake, don’t shoot at me now that you ice cold,” he said. “I’m not doing a back and forth with a corpse. I wanted to do it when you was lit. It was fun. Don’t go get shot all through the year and then pop up like Bernie at Weekend At Bernie’s wanting to shoot at me now. No.”
He continued, “99 n*ggas done jumped on your ass. You out smoking hookah in turquoise boots. Don’t post me. Go get your fucking lick back. Fucking bitch.”
Drake and Budden have had many issues over the years. Budden criticised Drizzy’s For All the Dogs album in 2023, claiming he was “rapping for the children” and “still fucking 25-year-olds.” Drake responded by claiming Budden had “failed at music.”
“[Y]ou switched careers cause the things that pop into your brain had you broke living cheque to cheque and the raps you write had 450 men showing up to your shows in dusty Enyce jeans to screw up their face to Mood Muzik 29 and pretend you are the goat,” he said at the time.
“[Please] to any artist that’s doing what they feel is right don’t let these opinions affect your mindset after the fact…this guy is the poster child of frustration and surrendering. If you need it put in simpler terms, I own a 767…he owns a modest house in the 973 and flies first class on special occasions.”
Budden recently called Drake a “Karen” for his association with Toronto native Top5, who beat a murder case last year. “You at the game running around with this n*gga that has been threatening Kendrick saying, ‘I’m a kill you, I’m a do X, Y, Z!’” he said.
“You know who you running around with and you know what you doing, and you know what you threatening. So if you that [tough guy], then be that. But don’t be that and also Karen out here. I don’t like it. It’s nasty and disgusting!”
