JID has recorded a collaborative album with J Cole

JID has revealed he’s recorded a joint album with J Cole. The Atlanta rapper only released his new solo project, God Does Like Ugly, on August 8th, but he’s already teasing another highly anticipated album.

The ‘Surround Sound’ artist signed to Cole’s Dreamville label in 2017 and has built a strong relationship with Cole over the years, so strong that they’ve collaborated on a whole album.

During his appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast, JID opened up about getting into the studio for an entire project.

“Me and Cole got a body, a 15-track smoker,” he said. “Me and him, back and forth. We worked on this shit in New York, I ain’t never told nobody this. Sorry, Cole.”

JID and Cole have collaborated many times. The pair teamed up on ‘Off Deez’, taken from JID’s DiCaprio 2 project, in 2018, which has over 142 million streams. Other songs include ‘Down Bad’, ‘1993’, and ‘Rembrandt…Run It Back’ off Dreamville’s Revenge of the Dreamers III and ‘Stick’ from D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape.

They also worked together in 2022 on ‘Waterboyz’ from EARTHGANG’s Ghetto Gods album. Cole had high praise for JID after signing him to his imprint. “The first thing is how gifted he was with putting his words together,” he said.

“The thing that solidified it was when I saw his worth ethic and his hunger. A lot of people want it, but they not willing to put in the work. He’s not one of those people. His potential is G.O.A.T. status.”

JID’s new album, God Does Like Ugly, was released last week. It follows 2022’s The Forever Story. His latest project features Clipse, Westside Gunn, Ty Dolla Sign, Vince Staples, Don Toliver, Ciara, 6LACK, and others.
