Jay-Z sexual assault accuser begs judge to remain anonymous

Jay-Z was sued for sexual assault last year by a woman who later dropped her case against him. The rapper then filed a defamation lawsuit against her, but she’s pleading to stay anonymous.

Hov was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 along with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. She claimed the incident took place at an after-party for the MTV Video Music Awards.

However, the lawsuit was voluntarily dismissed in February with prejudice, meaning the suit couldn’t be refiled.

In new court documents obtained by Complex, the woman begged the judge for her name to stay hidden due to psychological harm.

Her psychiatrist, Dr John T Olsen, said, “From a psychiatric standpoint, the forced disclosure of her identity in this context would have catastrophic consequences for her mental health. Such public exposure would destabilise her current mental health recovery.

“The impact would likely be severe, with a high risk of exacerbation of her psychiatric symptoms, deterioration of her functioning, and a profound negative effect on her overall prognosis.”

Jay-Z filed his lawsuit against Jane Doe in March, while also naming her lawyers, Tony Buzbee and David Fortney.

“Doe has now voluntarily admitted directly to representatives of Mr Carter that the story brought before the world in court and on global television was just that: a false, malicious story,” his lawsuit read.

It continued: “She has admitted that Mr Carter did not assault her; and that indeed it was Buzbee himself … who pushed her to go forward with the false narrative of the assault by Mr Carter in order to leverage a maximum payday.”

The judge has yet to decide whether Jane Doe will remain anonymous or whether her identity will be revealed.
