Jay-Z makes $1million effort to fight for criminal justice reform

Jay-Z is fighting a million-dollar battle for criminal justice reform after raising funds.

The plan is to overturn wrongly convicted people in the State of Kansas. The move has been hailed by Tricia Rojo Bushnell, the Executive Director of the Midwest Innocence Project. She said, “It’s a huge investment. The ability to look at these cases is really going to continue to shine a light on what we need to do to actually provide a just criminal legal system in Wyandotte County.”

Team Roc’s donation will help fund the Innocence Project, which use DNA testing to help bring reform. Furthermore, they’ll use the money to assist with their Wyandotte County, Kansas arm. The organisation are currently trying to free Lamonte McIntyre, who has spent 23 years in prison for two murders in Kansas City, Kansas.

In an Instagram post, Team Roc said, “For years, federal prosecutor Morehead has been known to lack veracity, yet, she remains employed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

“It is not acceptable for someone to hold a role within the justice system when they have been accused of coercing false testimonies, listening in on defendant’s legal calls and other disreputable offences.”

They continued, “The Justice Dept, the Acting US Attorney for the State of Kansas is aware of these accusations, so why has the corruption in Kansas City, Kansas not been investigated? For years, federal prosecutor Morehead has been known to lack veracity, yet, she remains employed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.”
