Jay-Z is now the only billionaire in hip-hop after Kanye's meltdown

After expanding his brand beyond music, Jay-Z has become the only billionaire in hip-hop. The estimation sees Hova being $2.5 billion following his work in the liquor business that started in 2019.

In the years since working in the liquor business, Jay had sold most of his stock in the brand D’Ussi to Bacardi. When asked about working in a new business venture, Jay said (via All Hip Hop), “The next phase of this journey will further cement D’usse’s legacy as one of the world’s most respected brands. I am excited to renew this partnership with Bacardi”.

Kanye West was known for being on the list of hip-hop billionaires until recently, only for his star to drop significantly in the past year. During the promotional cycle for his album Donda, West began making claims that didn’t sit well with members of his audience, including his infamous views towards the Jewish population and bringing out controversial figures like DaBaby and Marilyn Manson during some of his performances.

Jay-Z had helped West at the beginning of his career by signing him to his label Roc-A-Fella, and West had written tribute to songs to him like ‘Big Brother’ off Graduation. In light of West’s recent statements, Adidas severed all ties with him, with Forbes estimating his net worth at $400 million.
