Jack Harlow's favourite rapper of all time

Jack Harlow is on course to become the next superstar of rap, and there’s one name that he’s idolised from an early age who has even given his seal of approval to the ‘What’s Poppin’ star.

The Kentucky native started rapping when he was 12, under the alias of ‘Mr Harlow’ and built up a local reputation. In high school, he’d regularly sell-out venues in town, including the 900-capacity Mercury Ballroom, and he also opened up for Vince Staples in Louisville during this period.

After he graduated high school, Harlow released his debut mixtape 18, which only enhanced his stock further. However, he couldn’t stay in Louisville forever and decided he needed to move to Atlanta in order to advance his career.

Things rolled into place from there, and through his partnership with DJ Drama, Harlow would catch the eye of Atlantic Records in 2018. Over the last eighteen months, his star has only risen further, and now, nothing looks out of his grasp.

For Harlow, nobody tops Drake, and he has gone on record numerous times to call the Canadian rapper the greatest of all time. When Drizzy came out to watch his tour show in Toronto last year, it was understandably a dream come true for the rapper.

During the concert, he told the crowd: “Tonight is a dream come true for me for more than one reason. First off, you sold this bitch out. Second, I was halfway through my performance and I looked up and I see my idol looking at me, man.”

When Drake acknowledged his kind comments, Harlow added: “Toronto, make some noise for the GOAT one time.”

Earlier that year, Drizzy first gave Harlow recognition when he liked and commented on a video that the Louisville rapper tweeted, which shows him rapping when he was a kid with friends. He captioned the post, “Still some of the realest shit I ever wrote”.

On top of Drake showing love for the footage, Kendrick Lamar also liked the tweet, which was the first post that he’d done that for in over two years, and Harlow couldn’t believe it was this which had gaged their attention.

Taking to his Instagram Story, Harlow half-jokingly told his followers, “So this is what it takes for the great ones to recognise my work?”

With his highly anticipated sophomore album on the way and following his collaboration Kanye West, surely a link-up with his numero uno, Drake, is now only a matter of time? Let’s hope that the wait isn’t too long before we see them jump on a track together.
