J Cole releases new single ‘Might Delete Later’

Dreamville founder J Cole has given fans an exciting new single and accompanying vlog-style music video inspired by the legendary Smack DVD series from the early-2000s.

The Forest Hills Drive 2014 artist released the track on February 21st, and the visuals dropped through his burner account on Instagram. Smack DVD was a raw, uncut series that gave fans a hint at what goes on behind the scenes with their favourite rappers.

The visuals released on Instagram show Cole backstage on his tour with Scorpion icon Drake, as well as a studio session with Tay Keith. Moreover, it depicts the ‘Wet Dreamz’ rhymer hanging out with Lil Durk and more.

As the video draws to a close, Cole begins to emcee, rapping, “I said I was finished, but I want another two summers / Hall of famer hungrier than all the newcomers!” The caption reads, “Might Delete Later, Vol. 1.”

Currently, fans are unaware if this is the official name of the song or whether it is a working title for an upcoming project. Cole hasn’t released a new project since 2021’s The Off-Season. Last year, he confirmed his highly-anticipated seventh album, The Fall Off, although fans are awaiting an official release date.

Cole announced a new album was in the works last year on the track, ‘To Summer, From Cole,’ a track that appeared on Summer Walker’s EP, Clear 2: Soft Life. The EP was released in May.

On the track, Cole rapped, “I’m thinkin’ about ya, I heard you just had you another lil baby / Congratulations, I hope you got through it with no complications / I find it amazing, the way that you juggle your kids, the biz, the fame, the bitches that’s hatin’ / They sit around waiting for you to fall off like the album I’m making.”

As for now, fans only have ‘Might Delete Later.’ However, it is a sign that more is to come.
