J Cole disses the Grammys over ‘sympathy’ awards: “Fuck them”

J Cole has taken shots at the Grammy Awards in a new collaboration with Mike WiLL Made-It.

The chart-topping producer released his new album R3S3T on March 20th, which includes a song called ‘OFG!’ featuring Cole.

Produced alongside Pluss and 30Roc, the track finds the Dreamville rapper calling out the Recording Academy for giving him “sympathy” awards.

In his verse, he raps, “Fuck them lil sympathy Grammys/ You n*ggas try hand me, bitch, don’t even give me no ‘ward/ Put me right back on that list that had Pac and Biggie/ Bob Marley, Snoop Dogg and The LOX/ And n*ggas like that who ain’t never get props.”

Throughout the verse, Cole references his status in hip-hop, specifically his public image after apologising to Kendrick Lamar for dissing him on ‘7 Minute Drill’.

He spits, “Why they tryna cancel a n*gga like me?/ I would think they could see my intentions was good/ Been a long time since my mentions was good.”

Cole also says, “Sometimes I feel like ain’t shit left to say/ When I’m 10 projects in and now I’m over 40/ Maybe I told every story/ Maybe they don’t wanna hear me no more.”

The 41-year-old has been nominated for a total of 18 Grammy awards throughout his career, winning his first in 2020 for ‘Best Rap Song‘ through his verse on 21 Savage’s ‘A Lot’.

Then, he won his second in 2024, picking up ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ for his ‘All My Life’ collaboration with Lil Durk.

Cole previously collaborated with Mike WiLL in 2024 on Gucci Mane’s ‘There I Go’. The track appeared on Gucci’s Breath of Fresh Air album and reached number 94 on the Billboard Hot 100.
