J Cole celebrates fans’ engagement at Miami show: “That’s fucking beautiful”
A J Cole fan proposed to his girlfriend at the rapper’s show in Miami this week.
Cole performed at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, on July 14th as part of his run of dates for The Fall-Off World Tour.
During a performance of ‘Life Sentence’, a personal track that appears on Cole’s latest album, The Fall-Off, someone in the crowd got down on one knee.
Other fans around them began to cheer, prompting Cole to acknowledge the gesture and give them their moment in front of the whole arena.
“That was amazing,” Cole said on stage. “Crowd, teamwork. All the way in the back up there? She said yes. Put the spotlight on my people back there that just got fucking proposed to [during] ‘Life Sentence’. Oh my God. Spotlight team, whatever the fuck you did last time to whip that spotlight around.”
He continued, “What’s up, baby girl? What’s up, my boy? God bless y’all. That’s fucking beautiful. Y’all make some noise for them, man.”
‘Life Sentence’ is a love song about vows and responsibilities, peaking at number 73 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Fall-Off was released in February, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 with 280,000 units in its first week.
Cole began The Fall-Off World Tour last week in Charlotte, with upcoming North American shows in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Toronto, New York, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Oakland, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and many other cities.
In October, he’ll be heading over to Europe, with dates in Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Manchester, Paris, Stockholm, and more locations. Finally, Cole will close out the tour with Australasia and Africa shows, with stops in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, and Johannesburg.
