Isaiah Rashad announces new album ‘It’s Been Awful’

Isaiah Rashad has announced that he’s returning with a new album.

The TDE rapper hasn’t released a project in five years but is set to drop his third LP this summer.

The 34-year-old took to Instagram on April 7th to reveal that his new album is titled It’s Been Awful and will be released on May 1st.

Rashad shared a trailer for the project, which includes new music. He wrote in the caption, “IT’S BEEN AWFUL … 5/1/26.”

In the days leading up to the announcement, Rashad teased the project by posting note cards that read, “It’s been awful,” and “Everybody wanna see you crash out, fall off, and burn out all for their entertainment. I just wanna see you smile.”

Fellow TDE rapper ScHoolboy Q also posted the name of the project on X (formerly Twitter), along with label president Terrence ‘Louis ‘Punch’ Henderson, and others.

Rashad released his last album, The House Is Burning, in July 2021 via Top Dawg Entertainment and Warner Records.

It debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 chart with features from SZA, Lil Uzi Vert, Jay Rock, Duke Deuce, 6LACK, Smino and others.

Speaking on the album, he told the Grammys, “I grew up surrounded by everything Southern – Southern rap, but also Southern R&B, my favourite singers are from the South. Erykah Badu is from Dallas, Anthony Hamilton is from Georgia – even Ray Charles, he’s more of the old school ones. Most of my influences are from the South.”

He continued, “I’ve been in LA for so long, this was the decision time that I needed to make music that sonically reminded me of where I was from versus just being inspired by it. The previous two projects were more inspired by where I’m from, [while The House Is Burning] is like recreating the element, recreating the vibe.”
