Is Proof’s son about to collaborate with Eminem?
The late Detroit emcee Proof was a great friend of Eminem. In fact, it was Proof who introduced Em to the concept of performing live. Eminem (real name Marshall Mathers) met Proof in high school and already loved LL Cool J.
However, he only considered emceeing once he met his late D12 counterpart. Proof (real name DeShaun Holton) died in 2006, but before he passed away, he had a child. That said, his son may have an upcoming track featuring Mathers.
Proof’s son Nasaan has known Eminem since he was born and always admired and respected him. That said, during a recent interview, Nasaan (who’s now a rapper) hinted he has upcoming material with Em.
Opening up about his childhood in Atlanta, growing up around Southern hip-hop, Nasaan unveiled, “I feel like I’ve known the n*gga forever. I think I started growing an appreciation for him as I got older ’cause it’s like— I never was a super fan of their [D12’s] music.”
He continued, “I grew up in Atlanta, so I think when I started building taste, my palate was a little bit different. So when I got like 14, 15, I kind of got into they stuff, and I was like, ‘Oooh, this n*gga really rap.'”
During the Off The Porch interview, when talking about his own musical career, Nasaan was asked if he had any material with Eminem, to which he responded, “We got some shit, we got some stuff,”. He sent me some stuff. I don’t want to speak on it too much. I be getting in trouble when I talk about they stuff. I ain’t gonna speak on it.”
Earlier this year, Nasaan released the lead single of his upcoming full-length project, ERROR 404. Entitled ‘Goated’, following the release of the song’s music video, Nasaan took to social media to speak about his father, stating, “The release of this video got pushed back (because of other stuff), for its scheduling to be the day I lost my father 18 years ago.” He continued, “This feels like such a pivotal make-or-break moment for me and my career mentally and all this says to me is that my father wanted to stand alongside me for this journey, win or lose.”
