Ice-T refuses to discuss Kanye West backlash

Ice-T has refused to address Kanye West’s recent controversies. West recieved backlash after posting a series of antisemitic comments on his social media channels. He was subsequently banned from Twitter and Instagram. Now, he’s back. Over the weekend, he tweeted: “Testing Testing Seeing if my Twitter is unblocked”.

West’s comments, one of which saw him describe antisemitism as “not factual”, led to numerous fashion brands ending their partnership with the rapper and his Yeezy products. The rapper was also dropped by Balenciaga and a slew of other companies.

Foot Locker and TJ Maxx decided to cut all ties, while Skechers refused to engage with West in future collaborations. West is apparently planning to sell all Balenciaga, Adidas and Gap hoodies for $20 (£16.85).

During an interview with AllHipHop, Ice-T said was asked for his opinion on the backlash. “I don’t really have any opinion,” he replied, “and I don’t want to be somebody trying to slander somebody. That’s not fly. Right now, people want just come out and say shit. I mean, whatever my view, I like to keep that in private. It’s not gangster to come out and talk about somebody like that.”

Ice-T described West as an example of someone using their freedom of speech but needing to “watch what you say.” He added: “So, when you say something, you have to be prepared for the ramifications of what you say, and apparently he is.”

Elsewhere, Kanye’s ex-girlfriend, Julia Fox, has said that she was “delusional” for believing that she could help West during their relationship.
