Ice Cube trapped in Australian hotel due to Cyclone Alfred
Ice Cube is currently in Australia for some concerts but has found himself stuck in the middle of a cyclone. The NWA legend, who has a couple of shows scheduled later this week, has been trapped in his hotel due to Cyclone Alfred.
People have been told to “act now” and leave before the situation gets worse as the “extremely rare” Category 2 storm heads towards the southeastern coast. Queensland Premier David Crisafulli warned, “There is a chance this cyclone will cross in the middle of the night with a high tide. That is not the time to be making your evacuation plan, now is the time.”
During an appearance on chat show The Project, Cube opened up about what it’s like to be caught up in the middle of the storm. Cool as ever, the West Coast rapper brushed off any nervousness about his safety.
“I’m staying clear of it,” he said. “It’s pretty cool, I haven’t been through a cyclone before, so I can check this off my bucket list, for sure.”
Cube claimed that it looked like the cyclone could bring the beach to the hotel building. “You know, I’m right here on the beach,” he said. “The beach looks like it’s going to be in the lobby in a minute.” He declined to share any more details, joking that they would need to pay him for any more of his weather reports.
The ‘No Vaseline’ artist is set to perform at the ICC Sydney Theatre in Sydney on March 7th, with a show at Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne scheduled for March 9th.
Following his Australian dates, Cube will perform at the Eagle Mountain Casino in Porterville, California, on April 4th, followed by a show at Fantasy Spring Resort Casino in Indio, California, on April 5th. Then, on May 24th, he’ll play Bottlerock Napa Valley in Napa, California.
Cube released his latest album, Man Down, in November. Debuting at number 48 on the Billboard 200, the project featured the likes of Snoop Dogg, Too $hort, B-Real, E-40, Kurupt, Xzibit and others.
