Ice Cube calls out “coward” for setting fire to tour bus

A tour bus belonging to Ice Cube went up in flames last week. The incident took place in Portland, Oregon, on September 23rd.

Firefighters responded to a fire that occurred on the vehicle’s front passenger tyre at Southwest Broadway and Oak Street.

Portland Fire and Rescue spokesperson, Rick Graves, said the fire was under investigation, but didn’t know who the bus belonged to.

TreMedia CEO and founder, Tresa Sanders, confirmed to Oregon Live that the vehicle was Cube’s tour bus.

In a statement, Cube said, “I’m not taking this incident as a personal attack. A coward like that would burn anybody’s property that was out there at the time.”

Providing more details on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Wasn’t my bus. It was a crew bus. Parked in front of the hotel. Everybody was upstairs sleeping. Nobody hurt. No equipment damaged. A coward set fire to the bus. My bus was actually in Oakland getting serviced.”

The NWA rapper is currently on his Truth to Power: 4 Decades of Attitude Tour, which serves as his first headlining North American tour in over 10 years.

He performed at the Moda Center in Portland on September 22nd. Other locations on the run include Brooklyn, Atlanta, Houston, Oakland, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Toronto.

Cube released his latest album, Man Up, on September 12th. It serves as the sequel to Man Down, which was released in 2024.

Speaking on the album, he said, “I’ve always stood on speaking truth to power and making music that reflects reality. Man Up is about accountability, resilience, and reminding people where the real problems come from. Hip-hop didn’t create the struggle – it gave us the language to call it out.”
