Ice Cube claims Diddy may have been “targeted”
Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs, the founder of Bad Bad Records has found himself on the receiving end of a string of allegations and is currently in the midst of unrelenting legal pressure. He currently faces several lawsuits from various people accusing him of sexual assault, abuse and more, while also at the centre of a federal sex trafficking investigation. Combs denies all accusations of wrongdoing.
In November 2023, the rapper received a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend Cassie, which led to a number of others coming forward with similar harrowing allegations. At the centre of this controversy have been various theories over what has opened the floodgates for these allegations, and the most recent to weigh in on the matter is Compton rapper Ice Cube.
Earlier this week, the rapper sat down with Patrick Bet-David on the PBD Podcast, where they both briefly discussed Diddy’s current situation. Ice Cube admitted that he wasn’t shocked about the ongoing allegations and professed that the hip-hop industry is akin to the “wild west.” He also admitted that he believes Combs has a target on his back, which could possibly have led to the legal predicament but didn’t support these claims with any facts.
“I believe he’s been targeted,” he said, “I believe someone has the power to pull the trigger to make this stuff, this domino effect, happen.” He clarified that he is only speculating and hasn’t got enough information to provide specifics.
“I just know that he was cool up until a point, and this stuff started happening,” he continued, “So I believe somebody… Said ‘Yo, he’s our new guy we’re on this year’, or whatever.”
In the face of these ongoing lawsuits, a spokesperson for Diddy has denied the allegations on the artist’s behalf. They made a similar claim to that presented by Ice Cube, stating that Diddy is innocent and the rapper is being “targeted”. The spokesperson also accused victims coming forward of abusing the New York Adult Survivors Act.
