How are Lil Uzi Vert and GloRilla related?

GloRilla surprised her fans in 2022 when she revealed that, in addition to being a collaborator and friend to Cardi B, she was actually related to her, too.

Cardi later backed Glo’s claim, confirming in 2024 that the younger artist was, in fact, her “real cousin.” The pair hadn’t initially been aware of their familial bond, but, after starting to become suspicious, they did some investigating and uncovered the truth.

Having one famous cousin in rap music is an interesting quirk, but, as it turns out, Cardi B isn’t GloRilla’s only hip-hop relation. Lil Uzi Vert is family, too.

Glo revealed this tidbit during an appearance on the Past Your Bedtime podcast in 2024, where she was being asked about other rappers she would or wouldn’t like to work with. Lil Uzi was mentioned, with Glo announcing, “Yeah, that’s my real cousin,” using the same phrase as Cardi did when confirming that Glo was her own cousin.

She was then pushed about why she hadn’t worked with Lil Uzi at any point, but she suggested that it would happen eventually. “We actually working on it,” she said. “We gon’ get it together.”

Glo immediately qualified her words, noting that, “well, we never started on a song,” but she insisted that they “gotta get it together.” Fans of the two of them, while surely anticipating such a project, are still waiting for one to drop, as of the time of writing.

There’s clearly a sprinkle of show business upon GloRilla’s wider family, and, for what it’s worth, there’s another prominent figure in there, too. Another cousin, Cardi B’s own sister, is known in contemporary hip-hop circles, as well, albeit not as a rapper.

Cardi’s sister Hennessy Carolina came to prominence on the reality TV series Love & Hip Hop: New York, which is also where Cardi started to really make her name. But unlike her superstar big sibling, she has steered clear of the mic and has instead focused on a fashion career and being an influencer.

GloRilla, in any case, has a trio of famous cousins, which must come as a certain comfort for someone dealing with fame themselves. The experience, which can prove to be extremely alienating, is just something several people in her family have had to deal with.

Cousins in rap are surprisingly common. The Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA, GZA and Ol’ Dirty Bastard are all related, as are Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem, Snoop and Nate Dogg, and Ice Cube and Del the Funky Homosapien.
