Glo became widely known in 2022 after she released the single ‘FNF (Let’s Go)’, and it became a huge hit on TikTok. The single even scored her a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Rap Performance’, which was an astonishing result for a newcomer.
Glo’s next single, ‘Tomorrow’, was another success, but its remix did even better, with ‘Tomorrow 2’ bringing Cardi B on board, and this remixed version of the song climbed as high as number nine on the Billboard Hot 100. This was the first time GloRilla had breached the top ten, while the seasoned Cardi had done so ten times beforehand.
‘Tomorrow 2’ was massive for GloRilla, and Cardi B’s part in it surely helped. The pair were a powerful match for each other, but it turns out that their connection was deeper than just musical chemistry. They’re family.
GloRilla, in October 2022, appeared on Big Boy’s Neighbourhood, where she slipped in this tidbit about her connection to Cardi. She revealed that they were cousins, which the host Big Boy seemed dubious about.
When Cardi B later appeared on the podcast in 2024, the subject came up again — and Cardi confirmed that Glo had been telling the truth. “That’s my cousin,” Cardi declared about her ‘Tomorrow 2’ collaborator.
Cardi revealed the specifics behind their connection, explaining that her grandfather had cheated on her grandmother with another woman in Tennessee. The affair resulted in the birth of a child, who happened to be GloRilla’s father.
“That’s what makes us related,” Cardi summarised.
The two rappers apparently weren’t aware of this at first, but, because of their similarities, they became suspicious that “something funny” was going on. They started investigating, and they discovered their familial connection.
