Harlem rapper Posta Boy reportedly dead at 43

Harlem rapper Posta Boy has reportedly died at the age of 43. He was best known for his song ‘Jurassic Harlem’, produced by Swizz Beatz and sampling John Williams’ Jurassic Park score.

Posta was also the first winner of BET‘s ‘106 & Park Freestyle Friday’, remaining champion for seven weeks and earning a place in the show’s Hall of Fame.

Complex reported the news of his death on October 28th. Many rappers took to social media to pay tribute.

Skyzoo wrote on X, “Damn, RIP Posta Boy. As a 106 & Park alumni, the run Posta started made that audition line wrap around the corner twice after he retired 7 straight. We all wanted in. Much love to his legacy and strength to his family indeed.”

On Instagram, Mickey Factz added, “He was a King Towers/Foster Projects legend, Harlem pioneer. Nothing but love and respect. Support in any way that you can. Long live lyricism.”

Throughout his career, he collaborated with many notable names such as Nelly, Raekwon, Clipse, Talib Kweli, and Jae Millz.

Posta’s cause of death is unknown. During an interview with AllHipHop years ago, he opened up about his battle with testicular cancer.

“I had some swelling in my testicle area, so I went to the doctor,” he said in 2006. “They ran some tests and when I got to the hospital they’re telling me that I may only have six months to live. On top of that, I found out my girl was pregnant.”

He continued, “Now she was only two months pregnant, so the math on that is only eight months. At that point I’m like, ‘Damn, I may not even get to see my son or daughter born.'”
