Gunna calls for Young Thug to be freed after being released from jail

Following his release, Gunna has shared a photo of himself and called for Young Thug to also be freed.

Last year, Gunna and YSL label boss Young Thug were imprisoned with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisation Act (RICO). YSL is alleged to be at the centre of the conspiracy, with prosecutors claiming it operates as a gang.

Despite the claims of the authorities involved, both rappers’ legal representatives have denied the charges. Duly, Young Thug and others are set to go on trial this year, when their story will be heard. Gunna was also set to face trial, but last month, he entered a negotiated plea which allowed him to leave prison.

Gunna was initially sentenced to five years, with only one in prison. This was then commuted to time served, with the four remaining years suspended to conditions such as 500 hours of community service.

After leaving prison in December, Gunna has now taken to Instagram to update fans. In a photo, the rapper (real name Sergio Kitchens) can be seen sitting on a sofa, captioned the post: “N****s acting like they switching to a side. But it’s only one side.”

Additionally, he hashtagged the post #YsltheLabel, which makes reference to Young Thug’s YSL record label. Gunna also added #FreeThug&Yak, referring to both Young Thug and Yak Gotti. He finished the post by writing: “GUNNA BACC!!!!!”

In a statement upon his release, Kitchens said: “While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have not made any statements, have not been interviewed, have not cooperated, have not agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely no intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”
