Gucci Mane recalls apologising to Drake following “episode”

Gucci Mane has revealed he apologised to Drake after dissing him when he was going through a difficult time.

The Atlanta rapper had an outburst on Twitter (now known as X) in 2013, which involved him taking shots at multiple rappers.

During an appearance on the Big Facts podcast, Gucci opened up about apologising to the Toronto rapper, claiming he was having an “episode” at the time.

“A lot of them people, I reach out to and said, ‘Hey, I’m sorry, I [was] going through something,’” he explained. “Them folks like, ‘I forgive you, Gucci.’ Like, I said some bullshit about Drake, text him some crazy. But I was going through an episode, so I kind of had to hit him back and be like, ‘I’m sorry about that. I was going through something.’”

He continued, “He was like, ‘Man, you know we going to get past that. Brothers go through stuff.’ Bro, it felt so good that people understood. Some people don’t want to hear it, but a lot of people [were] like, ‘Man, we going to get past that. It ain’t no big deal.’ I’m appreciative of that.”

Guwop and Drake collaborated twice in 2016 on the songs ‘Back on Road’, produced by Boi-1da and Murda Beatz, and ‘Both’, produced by Metro Boomin and Southside.

The former track was released just 10 days after Gucci was released was prison. In the chorus, Drake raps, “I got money that I saved then I’m back on road/ Get my jewellery out the safe ’cause I’m back on road/ I still do these hoes the same when I’m back on road.”

Gucci released his new album, Episodes, on October 17th. It includes features from Sexyy Red, OJ Da Juiceman, and BossMan Dlow.
