GloRilla asks to dismiss copyright infringement lawsuit

GloRilla was sued for copyright infringement over lyrics in a 2024 song. However, she’s attempting to dismiss the lawsuit in a new motion.

Slimdabodylast (real name Natalie Henderson) claims she came up with the phrase “all naturale, no BBL” in 2024. The phrase refers to “Brazilian Butt Lift,” with her Instagram including “posts concerning [Henderson’s] modelling and physique.”

She later released a song called ‘All Natural’, which she alleges GloRilla took elements of without permission.

The claim concerns ‘Never Find’, a collaboration with K Carbon on the deluxe version of her Glorious album. GloRilla raps in the song, “Natural, no BBL, but I’m still gon’ give him hell/ He ain’t gotta flip no coin, still gon’ give him heads or tails.”

‘Never Find’ is produced by Yo Gotti, Lil Ronnie, Ace Charisma, and SlikkMuzik, and samples Somethin’ for the People’s 1997 track ‘My Love Is the Shhh!’.

Slimdabodylast’s complaint read, “There are unmistakable similarities between the two works. Based upon a side-by-side comparison of the two songs, a layperson could hear similarities in the lyrics, arrangement, melody, core expression, content, and other compositional elements in both songs and conclude that [the] songs are essentially identical.”

According to Digital Music News, GloRilla’s team claims the “disputed phrase between the two songs are not substantially similar” and that the lawsuit should be dismissed.

“Regarding alleged similarity of lyrics, Plaintiff alleges only that Defendants copied the line ‘Slimdabodylast, all naturale, no BBL, mad hoes go to hell,'” they wrote. “But as any ordinary listener can tell when listening to the two songs side-by-side, that line is not at all substantially similar to the phrase to ‘Natural, no BBL, but I’m still gon’ give them hell’ appearing once in ‘Never Find’.”

They continued, “Likewise, the phrases ‘mad hoes go to hell’ and ‘but I’m still gon’ give them hell’ are not substantially similar. The phrase from ‘All Natural’ describes where ‘mad hoes’ go, while, in contrast, the phrase in ‘Never Find’ states that the artist is going to give ‘them’ hell. In the ‘All Natural’ lyric, ‘hell’ is a location, but in the ‘Never Find’ lyric, ‘hell’ is what the artist is going to give ‘them.’”

GloRilla’s ‘Never Find’ has over 4.7 million Spotify streams, while Slimdabodylast’s ‘All Natural’ has around 4,000 streams.
