Glastonbury star Bru-C cancels all 2025 shows due to mental health crisis

Nottingham-based rap artist Bru-C has cancelled all of his shows in 2025, including a set at the Glastonbury festival, due to mental health issues.

The news came via way of Instagram, as the rapper posted a statement that laid his emotional difficulties bare. It began, “This is a really difficult thing for me to post, and one I was really hoping I wouldn’t have to.”

Bru-C, whose real name is Josh Bruce, has been a key part of the UK rap scene since releasing his first EP in 2015. He was scheduled to play at Glastonbury’s Arcadia area, in a set that would surely include his two platinum-selling singles.

“Many of you know I’ve been struggling with mental health issues for some time now,” the statement continued. “I’ve tried my best to bury things and keep my life and career moving forward. What I’ve ben going through has got gradually worse over the last few years and I need to take another step back to try and get back to some kind of stable place in my life.”

He clarified in the post that any recently missed shows were, in fact, cancelled by his team prior to the show, “but none were announced till the day. That’s out of my hands but I’m so sorry for anyone that’s came to see me recently thinking I’d be there,” he apologised.

He addressed fans who would have spent their “hard earned money” to attend shows, stating, “I’m gutted. I hope you understand that I have to prioritse my own mental and physical health. I want you to know I’m seeking the right help and support, and I take none of this for granted. I just want to be better, when that will be I don’t know.”

The comment section was filled with support from others in the industry. Example wrote: “Take your time man. Focus on yourself. Mad respect for this post. Hopefully it helps others. Love ya.”
